Question: Whats the average medical transcription salary working from home?

I am asking people who actually have been medical transcriptionists, who can personally say how much they made because I am going to get certified in medical transcribing. . .

When you first start out expect $8 to $10 an hour. Near the end of your first year, with experience and speed, an average MT earns $18 to $20 an hour. Per year an average MT w/ 1 year experience earns about $24,000-$29,000 per year but that is working about 5 hours a day.

Without at least a couple years experience, you aren't likely to find medical transcription work from home. People who do that type of work at home are usually doing it for a facility where they worked in their offices and their bosses now allow them to work at least some of the time from home.

It entirely depends on your experience.work from home option gets to very less folks and you'd need to have considerable number of years of experience before you get work from option. there could be few jobs that give this option.

The major bulk of medical transcription work in the U.S. has been greatly curtailed by state privacy laws as it pertains to medical records and patient confidentiality. The vast majority of medical records are kept in recordkeeping departments within medical centers and any transcription work is done "in-house, " and are not "outsourced. " So, beware of any offers which promote online at home medical transcription work--there are scammers out there. Good luck!
